TYPES OF ROAST
There are three different types of roasting profiles when it comes to coffee. The first being the light roast, this roast has no oil on the surface and it tends to be fruitier with a more distinct taste. Next there is the medium roast, this roast is slightly sweeter than the light roast and it has a very balanced flavor, aroma and acidity making it a very commonly used roast. Finally, there is the dark roast, which tends to be very bitter and the original flavor of the beans.
The grind size is very important when it comes to the overall taste of the cup of coffee. The size of the ground coffee determines the contrast surface area of the coffee bean to the water. This effects the extraction rate and overall flavor of the coffee. If the grind size is fine then it be expected to observe a faster extraction rate and a more contact area which will lead to a stronger tasting cup of coffee, compared to a larger grind size.
